Privacy Policy

At RateMyDegree, we take your privacy seriously. This page describes information used by the review platform.

1. Information Collection

We collect information you provide directly to us, such as when you create an account, post a review, or communicate with us.

2. Use of Information

We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve our services, and to communicate with you.

Public reviews and account data

Reviews display the degree, school, student status, review date, ratings, and your written responses. Account details are kept separate from the public review. Your writing may still identify you or others; avoid sharing personal information.

Managing your contribution

Use My reviews to edit or remove your contributions from public view. Removal retains an internal record for moderation. Unfinished drafts are stored only in this browser on this device for up to seven days, until you discard them, or until a successful submission. They are not uploaded as drafts.

Service providers and diagnostics

The platform uses Supabase for authentication and storage, Google for sign-in, and Sentry for error monitoring. Degree search may use a search index; alternate-name searches can be logged to improve matching. These services process information required to provide their functions.

Optional product analytics

Google Analytics and PostHog product events are off until you choose “Allow analytics” in the footer. You can change your choice there at any time. When enabled, product events describe visits to named page types, searches and result counts, degree and school details viewed, review links clicked, sharing, review and sign-in steps, and fixed error categories. Selected degree and school IDs are included where relevant. PostHog also receives manually captured, normalized error types and categories, plus generic counts of uncaught errors and unhandled rejections; original error messages and stacks are excluded. A random anonymous ID is stored for the current browser tab so events before and after sign-in can be related without identifying your account. It is cleared when you decline analytics if browser storage permits, or when the tab session ends. We do not send review writing, search phrases, email addresses, sign-in codes, account tokens, full page URLs, or referrer URLs to PostHog. PostHog Web Analytics receives fixed page-route templates and a random SDK session identifier for visit counts. PostHog session replay, broad autocapture, and person profiles are disabled. Google Analytics receives page paths without query strings. The choice is stored in your browser. Declining optional analytics does not disable the services needed to use the site or the advertising described below.

Advertising and cookies

We use Google AdSense to support advertising on this site. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites. Google's advertising cookies enable Google and its partners to show ads based on visits to this and other sites. When you visit a page using Google services, your browser may also send Google information such as the page URL and your IP address. Learn more about how Google uses information from partner sites.

You can control or opt out of personalized ads in Google Ads Settings. You can also learn about opting out of some other participating ad vendors' personalized ads at YourAdChoices. Turning off personalized ads does not stop all ads; ads may still be based on the page you are viewing or your general location.
